The Light Shines in the Darkness!
The Reverend Elvis & Friends Blue Christmas is both an inspirational event and a meaningful time to remember loved ones missed over the holidays.
Rev. Bruce R.E. Sheasby, a.k.a. The Reverend Elvis, began the tradition over 30 years ago, as a young minister in the small town of Vauxhall, Alberta, sharing popular and seasonal songs, including the Rev donning his leather jacket with a curled lip and gyrating hip crooning “We’ll have a Blue Christmas without you.”
Reverend Bruce was given the title The Reverend Elvis in 1997 when he made national news as the host and winner of The International Elvis Gospel Festival. He has recorded and performed with Elvis’ Imperials. And the late award-winning broadcast anchor Darryl Janz recognized Bruce as an Inspirational Albertan.
In 2006, Rev Elvis joined forces with Dwain Sands, music producer and classic country and rock ‘n’ roll artist, who helped take The Reverend Elvis & Friends Blue Christmas to the Jack Singer Concert Hall and Jubilee Auditorium, including some of the finest Alberta and International artists.
Then, during COVID lockdowns, they produced an online Blue Christmas, especially dedicated to Seniors in Residences.
Over the years The Reverend Elvis & Friends Blue Christmas has taken place in community halls, hotel ballrooms, large concert halls, churches, and seniors’ residences; and continues to be both an entertaining and inspiring event.
